Best of The Internet - Week 2

Study: Online Content Creators Outnumber Consumers 2,000 To 1

A brief article on the ratio between content creators, like myself, and content viewers, like yourself.

2000 to 1 - who knew ..?

Oatmeal
Of course, this is the Onion, so the statistics are made up for the laughs. But they make a good point. For the past decade the internet has grown and evolved so much, and it contains so much information, you can't even imagine the numbers of original content uploaded each day.

Don't think only about journalists, writers and big branded sites. Even the regular user is a content creator. You took three pictures with your mobile phone today, you uploaded it to Facebook or Tumblr and now you have 10 or 20 likes, shares and the numbers are growing. You created something original, people are seeing it.

But after all, the article is simply made for the lolz.

How Would you Make Your city More Playful?

This was just mind-blowing to me when I first saw it. Freespace is the ultimate source of inspiration there can be. From my perspective, I see it as a huge blank canvas. Then a community gathered around the canvas and working together, or in their separate corner of it to create this huge piece of art.

13 Blood-Curdling Stories Only 2 Sentences Long

Do you remember when you were a kid you had to sleep with the lights on, every time you watched a horror flick? Just watching a classic which freezes your blood and makes your imagination burst with crazy ideas. Every dark corner, every little noise is someone trying to murder you. And it's not only the films. An excellently told dark story can make you shriek like a little girl. It can get so deep into your mind, even the warm blanket can't protect you.

I love stories like these. A friend of mine wrote an article about the scariest urban legends. It got kind of viral and had a lot of commotion around it. Which can only mean people love to be scared. Why would you think of frightening tales if there wouldn't be anyone to listen to them?

Just a few days ago I stumbled upon an article about two sentence long stories which can make you shiver. It sounded a little absurd, but gave it a try. To tell you the truth, they were far more nerve-racking than a lot of the camp fire anecdotes  we used to share back in the days.

Here is a list of my top favourite ones:

Best Of The Internet - Week 1

As we're working for the Internet (he's a person, don't even start to argue with me), me and Geoff find tons and tons of amazing content each week. And, while we can't write for you as much as we want (this blog being a personal side project for us), we decided we can at least compensate you with something.
Like the Silent Wednesday post, which offers no words, but images and animations for you to interpret however you wish, we'll be adding a new weekly (scheduled) post on Fridays.
We'll aggregate and collect the best of what we stumble upon throughout the Internet and on Fridays, present it to you, with a small description and commentary.
I hope you guys enjoy it and I leave you with our first catch :)

The Big Debate Over Man's Origins - Who won ?

Now the controversy between evolution and creation has been going on since forever. For most of the time it's been like any other argument of followers. Religion vs science had always seemed to me like a battle between Xbox and PlayStation, or Manchester and Chelsea - the fans are one sided, only acknowledging their respective side and completely diminishing the authority of the other (eg. PlayStation sucks because Xbox is bla bla...)

For those who have never been interested, the debate is over which is more probable as a model of origins - the creation by God and intelligent design as spoken of in the Bible and Christianity or the theory of evolution established by Charles Darwin and supported by modern science.
