Highlights of Comic-Con 2013

Comic-Con International: San Diego or simply known as Comic-Con, is the largest convention of it's kind in the world. Fans from all over the world can go and see the casts of some of their favourite shows, movies, video games, the creators of their favourite comicbooks, novels and etc. This is the place where you can get your books signs, get exclusive information, meet world-famous artists, the place where you can show what amazing costume you have created (oh yeah, everybody is wearing a costume).

Every year we get the latest info for your long-expecting film here. There are videos that are exclusive only for the visitors, but even so, the news spreads quicker than a tropical disease. This year is no different than before. The good thing is, Hollywood has taken over Comic-Con, which means we can have exclusive info about the movies and shows we have been waiting for. And the internet has exploded with news. Look at Google Trends and you will know, that I am not kidding.

Let's talk about the hottest topics right now.

Superman and Batman in One Movie

This is probably the biggest news around. Man of Steel is a huge success and has made hundreds of millions of dollars, and the numbers are rising. It was a matter of time before someone made a collaboration like this. We've seen the two characters many times in the comicbooks and in animations, but we have never seen them on the big screen. But it won't be in Justice League. Zack Snyder has announced that they will be making a sequel to Man of Steel, with Henry Canvill as Superman. The rest of the cast will be the same - Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. But there is a big question here - who will be Batman? Christian Bale has announced a lot of times that he will not appear as the character again, so there must be a replacement. I guess we will find out that later next year. Snyder has told that the production will start in early 2014, so that the film can be ready for summer 2015 (it's going to be a great summer).

And for now, the two superheroes won't be acting as a team. Here is what Snyder has told the 6500 fans in Hall H - "Let's face it, it's beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest superheroes in the world." So, you heard the guy - there will be a battle and it will be epic.

Avengers: Age of Ultron

We have just learned what the new Avengers movie will be called. Age of Ultron is probably not what you have expected. We all saw the beautiful face of the infamous intergalactic villain Thanos in the end of "The Avengers", so why isn't he the main baddie in the future film? They transferred him to another movie - "The Guardians of the Galaxy" (we'll get to that). Who is Ultron? A maniac robot that wants to destroy all of humanity. He is an old villain, actually. First appeared in the late 60s as a cameo, but soon became a main villain. He is very adaptive, intelligent and quite strong. He will be a nice villain for the film, but one problem remains - where is his father?

Ultron was created by Hanky Pym (a.k.a. Ant-Man, Gian-Man, Golliath, Yellowjacket and Wasp). Marvel has already announced that there will be a movie about Ant-Man, but it will probably be after Avengers 2015. This means there is a huge possibility, that this character won't appear in the film. That is kind of confusing, but here is what Joss Whedon (the director) said: “We don’t have to have him. It works very simply -- this is Marvel cinema, not Marvel comics. One thing [Marvel Studios head] Kevin Feige has a genius for is knowing what to hold onto and what to let go of. You can invoke the feeling you had and play with the characters you love and remain true to the needs of the film.” All we have to do now is wait.

Guardians of The Galaxy 2014

Well, I already said who will be the big bad guy in the film, so I can continue with the cast. For the surprise of all fans, most of the main cast appeared right in front of them. So Chris Patt will play as Peter Quill, Zoe Saktana as Gamora, Lee Pace as Ronan, Dave Bautista (oh yeah) is Drax, we also have Benicio Del Toro, Glen Close and John Reilly. Pretty awesome cast. Guardians of The Galaxy is not as popular as The Avengers, but that's the charm of it. If you are not a hardcore comicbook fan, you probably never heard of these characters, but who cares? It's Marvel and they are gonna try to make this the big movie of summer 2014, so I bet they won't disappoint.

X-Men: Days of Future Past

This title is probably the movie I am most looking forward to. Many people are sceptical, specially hardcore fans of the X-men comicbook series. They will tell you that this will be just another Wolverine movie, but I don't think so. Just for all the fans Hall H was filled with the whole cast of Days of Future Past. So in front of this huge audience stood Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Peter Dinklage, Michael Fassbender, Halle Berry, Even Peters, Shawn Ashmore and Omar Sy. Why not? This is probably how a fangasm is created. To make things even better, people who were there saw a very raw footage from the film. We know now that Sy is playing Bishop and Peters is playing Quicksilver, which is good news. Dinklage is playing Bolivar Trask.

The storyline Days of Future Past is a classic to the comicbook genre. Not everyone would start a project like this, because there is a big chance to disappoint all the fans, but I believe they will be able to make it. It's going to be either a huge disaster or a movie that we will all talk about for years on.

Amazing Spider-man 2

I won't talk about this much. They showed a teaser to the movie, where Jamie Fox is looking quite weird. He is playing the main villain Electro. So far I am kind of disappointed, but we will see what the movie will bring us.

Breaking Bad

Enough with DC and Marvel (specially Marvel). Let's review some other things. Like Breaking Bad for instance. There isn't much news about the show actually. The cast appeared in front of the audience and told their stories around the series. Mostly told stories about the past, not much about the next five episodes. This was their way of saying goodbye, because we won't see them in this formation again on Comic-Con. The next episode premiers on Aug 11.

Doctor Who

Sadly, there isn't much news about the Doctor Who series. They talked about the departure of Matt Smith, but didn't say who the new doctor will be. Also, there was some info about the 50th anniversary special, but we already knew the date and the cast. There has been an exclusive video, just for the audience in Hall H, but I doubt we'll see the footage leaked on the internet. They also announced an anniversary special - "And Adventure in Space and Time", where David Bradley will play the first Doctor.
