If SEO Was Like Music

Don't you hate it when you get stuck in a traffic jam? You sit there, waiting for hours to move a few inches. The only thing you can do is listen to the good old radio... or play some game on your super smart phone.

So I was listening to the radio and a random pop song came on. Not a big fan of the genre, but there are a lot of good songs. This particular one wasn't. There was a lot of repeating of the same word over and over again. The lyrics had almost no meaning and the melody was sampled from another very successful song from the past. Because I see content everywhere, I instantly connected that to my work - SEO.

Music SEO genres

This is how I see SEO if it was like music.

Pop Music

This genre has been here for a long time. I won't talk about the olden days, but about modern pop. The Pop SEO is a persona who likes to stuff his text with keywords. No synonyms, no variations, maybe a bit of entity salience. They usually mention the main keyword at least 50 times in a 500-word-text. And they will put it in the title and in the headers.

These folks always search the easiest ways to rank. Just the most skilled ones will create something new and will maintain it for years. Most of the Pop SEOs prefer to grab an old content and give it a new look. It's called a skyscraper technique - why think of new things, when you can rely on already successful content. Just make it better, or in most cases - fresher.

A main problem here is that many of the colleagues in this field are one-hit wonders. They make one site, rank it to the top with a lot of links, lot of mentions, stuffed content. The website stays on the top positions for a few months, but later on it will fall and we will never hear from it again. Sometimes they come back with new sites, but they never have the same success.

Slipknot Gave Us A Closer Look at Their New Masks

Every SlipKnoT fan already know that they are releasing their new album next month (21st October). We've been waiting for 6 year and for a period we weren't even sure if it will ever happen. After Paul's death the band wasn't the same. Then Joey's departure came along. But they released two singles and have proven that their music is still alive.

The new album is called .5: The Gray Chapter and, as you can see, the name is dedicated to Paul Gray.

There are two new band members, which we know nothing about. It's rumoured that Alessandro Venturella is the new bassist and Jay Weinberg the drummer, but these rumours are not confirmed.

As you know, Slipknot change their masks for every album. We've seen many faces during the 19 years of their existence. And now, thanks to Buzzfeed, we have a really good look at the new official masks of SlipKnoT for the upcoming album.

Some are not as new, but others are really creative. The masks of the replacing members are not individual like the others. Instead they are a reminder of the past.

And here is the closer image look:

The Soundtracks You Need for Work

Working in front of a computer could be quite dull. Sitting for eight hours (or even more), staring at the monitor and trying to concentrate just to write a few words. It is specially annoying when you work in an office. You have 30 other people around you, all clicking on the keyboards, making their small irritating noises. And when you are working as a writer you just need a way to isolate yourself from the environment. Or you might just need some inspiration.

The thing that helps me most is music. But not just any type of music - soundtracks. Other music could be quite distracting.

Video Game Music

I decided to split the list in to two - movies and video games. Just for your convenience.

The Three Stages of Writing Songs

With almost everything in life, you need a plan. You need a clean and concise strategy to achieving a goal. Writing a song is actually a lot like launching a rocket into space.

Why, I hear you ask?

Well, you've got to put a lot of time and energy into launching the song (into space), followed by developing your idea whilst it’s in orbit, and then finally bringing it back down to Earth by rewriting and finishing it off.

You can’t expect a song to be the finished article within the first stage, or second stage for that matter. Very rarely will you experience this moment of genius, and it’s where a lot of people struggle when writing songs on the guitar, piano or lyrics. Next time you sit down to write a chord structure, a lyric or a catchy chorus, try this three-stage writing process – it may help!
